A 12-chapter story

Follow a chronological history of human creativity. Starting in the Grand Vestibule, each ‘chapter’ of the museum explores a theme across a range of different cultures. Discover fascinating figurines in The First Villages exhibit, oil portraits in the First Globalisation gallery, and photographic mediums within A Modern World. Alongside the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s growing collection of local artefacts, you can see world-famous artworks loaned from international partners, including the Louvre Museum in Paris.

Situated on the corner of Saadiyat Island, Louvre Abu Dhabi is moments from the white sands of Saadiyat Beach. The museum is easily accessible from Downtown Abu Dhabi, via the Sheikh Khalifa Bridge, and offers parking onsite. 

Follow the Corniche Road and take a slight right onto Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Highway E12. Continue over the Sheikh Khalifa Bridge, taking the exit towards Jacques Chirac Street where you’ll find the museum. It takes about 17 minutes to reach Louvre Abu Dhabi from the Corniche.

The journey from Yas Island to Louvre Abu Dhabi takes about 20 minutes. Head west on the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Highway E12 across Saadiyat Island and turn right onto Jacques Chirac Street.

It takes about 30 minutes to reach Louvre Abu Dhabi from Abu Dhabi International Airport. Follow the signs for Yas Island and then head onto Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Highway E12, over Saadiyat Island and on to the museum.

Parking

Louvre Abu Dhabi offers free parking for visitors, just off Jacques Chirac Street. Most of the spaces are shaded to keep your car sheltered from the sun.

Did you know…

The Louvre Abu Dhabi is the largest art museum in the Arabian peninsula.

Visitors can explore 55 detached buildings and 23 of these are devoted to galleries, which were inspired by low-lying homes of the local region.

The museum, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect, Jean Nouvel, was 10 years in the making before it officially opened in 2017.

The dome weighs about 7,500 tonnes – roughly the same as the frame of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
